Vunerable

Place: home

Poison: water

Favorite things: little outfits!

It’s not until you unwrap little Max and see how tiny he is, that you truly come to terms with the meaning of the word vunerable.

His little head knocks back, his little arms flail and he has only three responses to anything, food, nappy change or sleep.

The vunerability of his beginnings of life is so palpable.

It truly reminds me of the vunerability of every human life. Without the basics we are all stuffed.

Yet society tries to make happiness and life about so much more than the basics.

Lenten reading (I have no idea what day we are up too, I have a less than one week old child, all I know is I have managed to write everyday which is a miracle in itself)

“Don’t let people do that to you, put you on a pedestal like that. You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don’t set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do. No one else should carry the title of ‘Father’; you have only one Father, and he’s in heaven. And don’t let people maneuver you into taking charge of them. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them-Christ. “Do you want to stand out? Then step down. Be a servant. If you puff yourself up, you’ll get the wind knocked out of you. But if you’re content to simply be yourself, your life will count for plenty. (Matthew 23:8-12 MSG)

There is so much in this one part of scripture, I don’t even know where to begin, but it makes me feel vunerable.

Humility is not an easy trait.

Servanthood is not pretty.

Life as we know it has changed so much this week, but the vunerability is staying sober to the reality of true happiness and life.

And they are found in the midst of following our Saviour on this Lenten journey and his life is marked by humility and Servanthood, which is a life marked by vunerability.

What makes you feel humble?

Ps- I’m so sorry if some of my posts don’t make sense, I’d so love someone to help me edit them. Last night was hilarious I’m breast feeding and writing a blog and falling asleep at the same time to wake up and write another sentence. One day soon I’ll go back and edit these posts.

Hope they inspire you somewhat, these Lenten reflections are helping me keep it real.
