Favourite Things: Queenstown. Oh My

I have had many shouts out loud and some soft whispers from the strangest of people asking ‘Where has your blog gone!’ Soooo, I am back, in the land of inspiration New Zealand, the long white cloud.

Ohh, so much to say so little battery. So I am going to go for it. Basically I have been working on two new books. Two I hear you say, yes I am a literary massicist. (not spelt like that, but do I care- NO!). So in the months to come be aware, I will be doing my best to blog, but a daily online publication and two books is not really that sane, considering the work load of my life also.

Today though in the midst of an amazing conference we run, 500plus, we talked about the land of the BLOG, and I was reminded of how this little tool is an archiving genius, an inspiration map and a lifeline for the spontaneous. To those who try to comment, I will open the comment section again, depending on the craziness of the spamming society who get into it and frustrate me.

So I will be exploring some of the concepts with my contributors to my books and also I will be downloading some of my ideas.

So watch out for tomorrow…

Snow, Luges, Mountains and hot chocolate, I’m in the land of the long white cloud. I am going horse riding for three days through Lord of the Rings land, I am going to attempt skiing again.

Joes Garage is my pick for the best salmon, hollandaise and eggs. I actually really love the snow induced layers of clothing.

Shivering but so so inspired.

leave of absence

Place:Boardroom

Poison: Long Black

Favourite Things: days off, that turn into work days…

Well it has been a big 5 weeks since I have written. I am currently working on two writing projects, outside of my normal crazy workload.

I have also had a couple of family emergencies, which have distracted my time and writing ability.

So I’m back on board and ready to go!

slum shaped Christianity

Place: My Office

Poison: Water

Favourite Things: Staff getting engaged!

‘God is in the slums, in the carboard boxes where the poor play house. God is in the silence of a mother who has infected her child with a virus that will end both their lives. God is in the cries heard under the rubble of war. God is in the debris of wasted opportunity and lives, and God is with us if we are with them.’

Favourite Things: Learn Thai Podcast

wan’der.lust’: A very strong or irresistible impulse to travel!

If I could choose one word to define my mood today it is wanderlust. I have such a strong desire and impulse to travel. Not because I want to run away, because I feel stressed or because I want to be somewhere else. Purely and simply because travel inspired this creative soul and being a tourist, experiencing new and crazy sights and sounds totally sets my inspirator on overload.

This last weekend, Penny, Rose and I became tourists in our own city, having a weekend away for Penny’s birthday. Becoming a tourist in your own city is a way to fight off wanderlust, however another way that I surrender my heart to this desire is by going to my local library and borrowing fiction and non fiction that will take me somewhere exciting.

Later in this year we are travelling to Thailand, so I got out every book on the shelf about thailand and was filled with Wanderlust.

Hmmm, the world is magnificent and wanderlust is a lust to wonder, ponder and discover places of the planet.

Up for it?

because

Place: Milkd

Poison: Long Mac

Favourite Things: The pelting rain

SANY0065.JPG

I went for a long walk this morning in my new parka, (because it is pouring with rain in perth) and I have been really challenged by the word ‘because’

When I was a teenager, I am sure my mum will passionately tell you my response to most of her questions was ‘BECAUSE!’. Said with much attitude, disrespect and bubbling anger.

Today though only years later, (okay maybe decades), I am using this word to define my choices in life and to help me define what I am truly living for.

Living with the word because helps me decide truly what I should, would or could be doing, because…

Living with a because for me means…

I was born because…

I won’t do that because…

I want to cut back on spending because…

I will go through the pain of publishing another book because…

I challenge others to live a bigger life because…

I watch Oprah because… (SMILE)

Life for me is no dress rehearsal and although popular culture professes the love of Hinduism and all things reincarnate, I believe I’m not coming back and the uniqueness of my being is not replicable.

So I live with ‘the because’ firmly planted in the front of my mind because…

What about you?
