Now I lay me down to sleep

Place: home

Poison: vitamin c tablets

Favorite things: lunch with friends

Nana naps are the best! My whole family are on their way to embark upon some nana nap goodness.

I think the Mexicans have it right. They sleep in, work a bit, then have a siesta in the afternoon, then stay up late.

I would have been the best Mexican, or Sicilian or Lebanese in a village.

The problem is right at the time my little man settles in for his longest sleep, from 8pm lately till 12pm, that is my favorite part of the night. Then 5am when he’s ready to play I’m Cactus.

Why wasnt he born a Mexican?

He’s less than 2 months old so I need to be grateful he is sleeping at all. He’s pulling out some 6 hr sleeps so I should be stoked.

Anyway, I know I talk alot about not wasting time and living a life of purpose and living with inspiration.

But having a great sleep routine and finding ways to rest and recover is an important part of re-creation.

Charl (my body builder husband) always says to me, muscles are built whilst you sleep babe.

Sometimes the best ideas, the best direction of change, the best concepts just need a bit of sleep to develop.

So if you are free from the stretch of newborn broken sleep. Embrace it. Light a candle, have a glass of milk, have a long bath, change your bedding and sheets, sprinkle some lavender oil, clean out the clutter from your sleeping space, stop reading text messages/fcebook/tumblr/twitter/Instagram/the list goes on and on in bed.

Create a peaceful place of sleep.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

If you struggle to sleep find a verse like this from scripture and repeat and meditate on it. He does make you dwell in safety and in peace he helps us lay down and sleep.

Zzzzzzzzz

I’m done.

First time in 7 weeks I can say I truly need a little nap.

The perils of a newborn.

Today we watched a movie starring Justin Timberlake (always a risk) and it was surprisingly amazing.

I would come close to saying one of the most inspiring movies I have seen recently.

Not really because of the words or the plot line, I was riveted by the context. The movie was set in a fictional place in the world, where no longer do we have money as our main currency, but time.

Every person has a time stamp on their wrist and they are paid in time for their work and they pay for their amenities, in fact everything with their time. Their life is basically bartered away for the bare necessities.

The rich get better looking and stay alive longer and the poor live with the intensity that their time is running out.

What a riveting subject.

Although we don’t live with a stamp on our wrist, ticking down our mortality, we are more aware than ever before that our days are numbered.

Im not sure if it is because I am getting older, or the world is getting sicker, but I have a conversation with person after person, watch broadcast after broadcast, read newspaper after newspaper about the effects of cancer, disease, car fatalities, shark attacks and the list goes on.

We live in a society that is afraid of the concept of time, because we are constantly reminded of those whose has run out.

Do you live indebted to your time or live freely because of it?

Time is a commodity in our world, although it is not swapped for our bread and milk, we choose the way we spend it and respond to the days we have left.

A king in the Bible Solomon who had seen everything under the sun wrote these words.
A Time for Everything

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

If time was a commodity, how would you spend yours?

Youngest

Place: the car

Poison: sushi and coke zero

Favorite things: random conversations on Bluetooth

We met up with the most amazing women today who are so passionate about rescuing women from prostitution in Nepal.

They are amazing women in their late fifties and I sat there listening to their amazing exploits I started to question what I could contribute to the conversation because of my age.

It’s easy when we are in situations where people are knowledgable about a topic, to shrink back and shy away.

The thing was, I truly did have a lot to contribute to the conversation but I continually double guessed my contribution due to my age.

Scripture says this…

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12 NIV)

I know I’m not 20 anymore, but in the shadow of people who are in their 50s and 60s I can still feel inferior.

What makes you shrink back?

What makes you feel inferior?

We need to confront our fears and know that every one of us was created with value and worth. No matter if we sit in the company of Kings and queens or with paupers in the slums of the earth, our value doesn’t change.

I want to set an example with whomever I sit with, wherever I sit, by knowing my worth and extending love.

You are valued and loved.

No matter what you think or feel.
