Contemplation

Place: the leather lounge upstairs

Poison: toothpaste

Favourite things: new trackie pants

This evening one of my teeth broke and at first I was completely freaked out! Oh no, I should have done this, I should have done that… You know that familiar sound of regret that swirls around the drainhole of your mind.

In the midst of this malay, I was reminded of a message I presented last weekend about contemplation and what was the tenure of my mind.

We cannot live with regret and the soundtrack of our minds, greatly impacts the everyday circumstance of our reality.

I want to create space to listen to the voice of reason and inspiration rather than that of negativity and decay.

No matter the circumatance, the podcast that your mind syncs with either brings health or disease.

Contemplate the best. Sync your thoughts with a sound track underscored with wisdom.

Besides really, how bad can one dentist visit truly be?

my family

Place: Lounge Room

Poison: Water

Favourite Things: Mark and Vickie Reddy in town

Between Christmas and New Year this photo was taken of my family on a holiday down south where we took time just to be with one another.

Our world is so full of speed and demands, to take time to rest and recreate together is such an important part of a creative lifestyle.

I miss my family times like this, just recently they all went away camping and I didn’t go away, and I truly am the worse for it.

How often do the seemingly urgent, take from the important. Diaires are often determined by the loudest voice rather than the most integral.

How often do those closest to you, recieve the leftovers or are on the end of the days tasklist?

It’s ony through contemplation and meditation, can we truly fade out the urgent and determine the important in our everyday.

In a world that will never be satisfied with no, it is imperative that we shout it loudly at that which bombards us.

Creativity is only fresh in the midst of a fertile ground, fertilised by soul care.

Refresh your diary and therefore your mind.

Barchetta

Place: barchetta

Poison: cap and carrot cake

Favourite things: the bloke and U2 latest album!

I am at a cafe that over looks the beach with my note pad and I am inspired!! This week my car was broken into and paintings I really loved and books that are irreplacable because of my copious notes, my painting class materials and signed copies of beloved albums all gone!

For me when things are stolen it’s not material possesions, but personal persuasions that are irreplacable that rob the heart not just our possessions.

But today after a stunning event last night with more than 1000 men, speaking about blokey stuff, I have just decided to let these treasures go and not let the person who took them also rob my peace.

A lesson in creative kindness, not allowing dissapointment to rock your everyday moments.

So whoever has my clumsy artwork and my beloved books… I pray you enjoy them as much as I did!!

Art class

Place: home

Poison: dry Ginger ale

Favourite things: new music

I have started an art class every Friday and I am in love. The romance has got nothing to do with my class mates or even my teacher…but everything to do with setting time aside. It has everything to do with space.

Creating space, taking time to create for no purpose whatsoever than the enjoyment of recreation.

What recreates you?

An old art centre, with easels plastered in layers of paint residue, a group of greying artists and a blank canvas is my oasis.

What is yours?

Can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and grab my take away coffee with a muffin on the side, slide into old paint splattered clothes and recreate.

Unravel the artist within, it only takes setting aside intentional space.

Yaughting

Place: the vances yaught

Posion: fruit

Favourite things: the parachute band

Am just chilling right now on a yaught on the swan river after an amazing weekend with old and new friends. It doesn’t take much to find common ground with people when we just take time to notice and reach out.

Life is so designed to live in community, yet so many people struggle with it’s intensity.

To see the inner workings of a group that tour the world together with such humility is inspiring. It reminds me of dreams I had as a teenager and what I truly love about living surrendered!

Find someone you love and dream big together. I truly believe that the world is our oyster and the pearl is most definatley the experiences you have when you share it with another.
