blues and roots festival

Place: My Office

Poison: Diet Coke

Favourite Things: The events department (amazing women of strength)

IMG_6161.JPG

On the weekend just gone I ventured out to freo and went to a weekend of music, big crowds, great friends, lots of strange smelling stuff floating accross the crowds and of course my ipod favourites.

John Mayer was by far my favourite, followed just behind by Missy Higgins. Then we had John Butler, the groovy sounds of The Cat Empire, Xavier Rudd prooved he’s the man with the most instruments and the oldest but by far the coolest Bo Diddley made the youngin’s in the crowd feel very stale, compared to his groove.

An amazing weekend of music and this genre is totally my fav. Well done to Sunset events who put on an awesome event.

Loved it!

Brought the Tshirt, spent the cash, was totally worth it!

a balm

Place: My Office

Poison: Flat white

Favourite Things: Easter Eggs (i know I shouldnt but there in reception!)

We are doing much research on Jane Austen at the moment for our next women’s event and this quote struck me!

Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love…Jane Austen (Northanger Abbey)

I have this amazing group of friends all over the world, that I would most certainly call my ‘sisterhood!’…With each of them moving into the lives that they have been called to live, I must be more intentional with the effort and time it takes to stay connected in their worlds.

What I have experienced through these relationships is a fine balm that has provided the healing layer from the stings, burns and cuts that life brings.

I do not want to live a sheltered experience where I never venture out from the confines of my safety zone. Therefore it is imperative that I have people who love me unreservedly to speak perspective and truth in those times of emergency.

So thanks to those balms of love out there, you know who you are…

Life without you would be so completely boring!

Lovin

grey’s anatomy

Place: My Office

Poison: Water

Favourite Things: Fresh Eggs from my ma…

My friend Gai passed onto me a Dvd of grey’s anatomy because since shifting to a new time slot of Sunday nights, I have not been able to get my weekly fix.

I’m not a huge fan of television, but since Kym (my bestest friend) has shifted back home, I have had a big hole in the social architecture of my life and tv seems to have been filling it!

Grey’s anatomy is such a great show. The primary theme in each episode reflects the main anthem of my generation. Am I good enough? Does somebody/ anybody notice me? Guilty or not guilty…

One show that I watched late last night really impacted me about father’s and daughters. The protaganist of the show Meredith Grey continually was bumping into her estranged Father and it meant she had to deal with this demon from the past. Then George (the soft, cuddly, everybodies his friend doctor) was grappling with the heart wrenching effect of a life time of damage on his fathers body and his consequential death.

Grey’s Anatomy, although just a show captures the heart of a generation and aptly reflects struggles that plauge my everyday.

Why do we get drawn into the stories of others…

Nice

CHANGE YOUR WORLD

Place: My Office

Poison: Easter Eggs!

Favourite Things: Sneaking Easter Eggs early!!

There is this one song that whenever I hear it, it totally unravels my heart and its one true desire.

Not in a forceful, controlling way, but in a Beatitudes, I have been extended so much grace type of way…I live to change your world. The song talks about people who dwell and survive daily poverty, whilst we spend a hundred dollars on a night out with the girls without even thinking!

I live to make a difference in people’s lives who have less than enough to survive. Especially children who are not responsible for the circumstances that they are born into.

I live to change the world, one life at a time, by living a generous and thought filled existence.

Watch this video and see what rises in your heart to bring change to this world.
