home made soap

Place: My Office

Poison: Long Black

Favourite Things: Green Scarf from Paris from Elaine…smile

I am loving the thought of sustainability and waste not, want not currently. Mostly inspired from my mum.

This last weekend she made some soap and deoderant, which sounds ‘Oh so Hippy!’, yet I’m thinking in this chemical enhanced, genetically modified, hormone enriched world, its not a bad thought to know what you are putting on and in your body.

Check out the link above.

No reason why you should not think creatively about our future and your kids future.

Its just the little things.

Its the simple things

Favourite Things: One month exactly till I start writing my next book.

 SteveMcCurryAfghanGirl.jpg

Okay it has hit me. I have been preparing and planning, researching and recording but only today has it hit me that it is one month exactly until I start the whole process again.

Capture 2, is more than a figment of my imagination it is actually happening.

One of my besties Kym is coming to Thailand with me to photo capture 30 days of desperation. We are on a mission and I am hoping it will actually work out.

This morning she sent me this email as an inspiration and I hope it inspires you also.

Prayers, thoughts and encouragement gladly received as this new adventure has come at a cost. A personal one. Not finanacial, as always it will be a financial stretch, but a lifestyle cost as a book consumes your mind, life and heart.

If its not all consuming I dont see how it can be birthed.

I never want to publish anything that is just done because its a good idea. I want to be burning with something to say.

If I am not burning, its just so not worth the cost.

Ahhhh.

Garage sale served with a side of chocolate cake…

Place: West End Deli

Poison: Long Mac

Favourite Things: the smell of spring coming

On saturday morning/ late friday night actually. A junk fairy came and littered our front garden with crap!

Handbags hanging from the tree, bangles landed on the fence, shoes fell into our neighbours yard. It was on…

77 carr street, is on its way out. Were moving.

With much sadness, grief and sentiment. We cleaned out what was no loner sentimental to us and had a Garage sale.

I wish I had come up with the idea a year earlier. What a joy it was to meet our neighbours and people close by.

Many people asked the awkward quetsion ‘How much is this?’ mostly our answer was ‘Free!’. It was so pleasurable to see their confusion.

We made a chocolate chip and coconut cake, which was so yummy and enjoyed most ravishingly by our 83 year old japanese neighbour who cannot speak much english at all. She did manage to commuincate though that later she would be back with beer.

An american backpacker found his way to our yard and left with a red scarf. One that was left by someone at one of our random parties. (sorry if it was yours!!)

Garage sales served with a slice of chocolate cake are a great remedy for disillusionment in the human heart to be truly real.

Meet your neighbours, find out who sleeps next to you!

It is medicine for the cynical soul.
