A symphony

Place: Rockingham

Poison: Milk Duds

Favourite Things: Hot Water Bottles

Well it has been quite an insane month. Thus no writing. I was reminded by a good friend though, this blog, (even if I have no viewers left) is a very important form of expression for me and a tool of inspiration for a very dry well.

When I write, I refill, refresh and revive my senses. For others they fill up in other ways, but this is a big one for me.

Just a while ago I found this quote that truly inspired me…

‘To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with an open heart. To bear all thankfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconcious, grow up through the common, this is to be my symphony!’ William Channing

Well Mr Channing, my symphony lately has been undiscovered and I want to open my ears to its sound once again. Its not been a bad month, just a little out of balance. Pajama’s, red wine, deep breaths, valuable books, laying on the couch with my mum, chocolate, long conversations, words unsaid, friendships ignited, squeels of delight, secrets to neices whispered, snuggles in familiar beds, 4th birthday parties, brunches on the beach, windy winter evenings. The first act is beginning to play once again.

thankfully

So we are on our way to prank someone. I cant tell you who it is as it may get back to them!

Here is a photo I absolutely love though, that reminds me that life is not just about the serious, hard core, intensity! Its about fresh, fun and mischevious love of creativity!

mime and masterpieces combine

Place: Milkd (AT LAST!!)

Poison: Long Black

Favourite Things: Smoked salmon

Last year we did a huge live freeze of D’vinci’s ‘Last Supper’. It was amazing. We had 12 men freeze on the stage with background set’s that made it look exactly like the painting.

Mark Cullen just sent me a website of the festival of masters. http://www.foapom.com/gallery/

Check out how these small towns in America follow through on this tradition!

Amazing!

Love it

generations

Place: My Office

Poison: Water and berocca

Favourite things: Vanilla Hand cream

Well it has been a crazy old time and if i even began to write about it you would be bored. So here I am back at the writing desk, with a new laptop, the other one karked it, and a new sense of wow about the everyday.

I love the thought of living my everyday in the perspective of generations rather than just me, my selfish desires and my life.

Here is a picture of Charlie Grace! My adorable God daughter whom I hung out with this week at a family wedding.

I am astounded that half of this year has flown by already, but I know one day soon I will be at Charlie’s wedding marvelling at days gone by, and how a whole generation passes without much thought by the one gone by.

I long to pass on an amazing legacy to charlie and her mates.

I long to be someone who inspires a generational mindset.

Do you?

pride and prejudice

Place: My Office

Poison: Caramello Koala

Favourite Things: Hoody’s

I am at work for the final  tech rehearsal of our event next week ‘Jane Austen’s guide to people’ and all day I have been confronted with the woes of people.

People management is one of the most rewarding and the most taxing parts of leadership. Its only now that I am in my 30’s am I seeing the weaknesses in my personality and how they affect my ability to relate widely to people.

On face value no worries, a quick chat and I’m out of there, the bigger picture of the good, the bad and the ugly is where I am really learning lessons and trying to move beyond!

Pride- the area of pride, cause me and others to stumble so often. Not being able to admit fault, thinking that it is our right to justify our cause, defensiveness and the list goes on and on.

Prejudice- categorising people in boxes that they may have designed in previous encounters or the remnants of a people experience gone wrong or residue from your families bias can  really stop you from great encounters with people in your everyday.

pride and prejudice, two hairy monsters that I am trying to make extinct. Were all human so they surface often, but just like cockroaches the more you spray them with repellant the less likely they are of coming back!

nice…
