Bask

To lean your head back, close your eyes and immerse yourself in sunlight.

To bask.

To breathe in nature, to absorb the absurd, to be.

Bask a little while.

I walk out my front door, feel the air run over my skin and am reminded that summer is almost here.

Bask a little.

I walk to the shops and smell the rosemary growing outside the butcher, I sneak a little sideways look and break off a piece to smell all the way home.

Bask with me.

To sit on the old wooden stairs that climb creakily down to our seaweed laden beach, to sip tea and feel the sand itching.

Basking.

Lift your head high, allow the worries of the week to slide and bask a little.

Basking could change everything.

Let that smile grow.

Serenade

It’s 5am and the only thing that could make this lack of Sunday sleep in beautiful is the delightful scream of my son as he plays with his toys.

Whilst making breakfast I turned off morning television and cranked up Spotify with some Christmas tunes.

I sung loudly to my son and celebrated the dawning of this new season with a serenade.

It makes me smile, it makes him stare with a bemused look…

I’m thinking he’s thinking ‘my mum is a little strange’

Were all a little strange though.

I’m strange, you’re strange, we’re all a little left of centre!

So seranade a little, turn up the radio in your car, sing silly a little.

Play music as you fall asleep, turn it back on and sway as you clean, turn your house into a theatre.

The joy
The laughter
The silly season

Embrace silly, it will warm your families heart.

Sing loud and proud.

Plan to go to a carols by candlelight with friends.

Serenade someone today. They might look at you a little funny, but something I’m them will be delighted.

Go on.

I dare you!

The cafe barista
The bus driver
The hairdresser

Sing a little.

Tis the season!

Engage

In the midst of a stressed out world, it is easy to disengage to save our hearts from the pain.

However we were made to live engaged lives.

Not blissed out, oasis seeking, ignorant ones. You were created to make a difference.

People are hurting, people have a story, all we have to do is ask a question and listen…there are stories awaiting to be told.

Engage.
Listen.
Notice

Our families are longing for it, our friends are hungry for it, our neighbors don’t even know they need it.

An engaged people is one who are aimed and ready to make a difference and to be present in the midst of a hurting world.

I spent the afternoon with a 17 year old that is 5 days away from giving birth. Single, rejected, alone. We didn’t talk that deeply, we just hung out and I did my best to engage in her world.

Who’s missing your wisdom because you haven’t noticed them?

Put your phone down and listen a while.

Life is awaiting engagement!

Wander

Wander a little.

Look
Listen
Explore
Delight

Wander with me.

Wander towards a place you have never been before.

Not all who wander are lost.

Wandering is delighting in that which is normal.

A walk through the trees, a canter through a shopping centre, a saunter across the road.

Delight with me.

Wander with me.

Adventures are awaiting exploration.

Wander a little.

Play

I am in the land of fairy’s, peppa pig, boats made out of cardboard boxes, giggle and hoot and dress ups.

Today I am looking after a 3 year old and a 8 month old and I am taking a deep breath and smiling.

Play!

It reminds me of the quote ‘Every child is an artist, the trouble is staying one as they grow up.’

We all need to play.

Get down in the sand at the beach and build a sandcastle.

Find time to play with water in a bucket just because it feels so fresh.

Paint with our fingers and body because textures and colour together are delightful.

Make a cubby out of your bed and scream hide and seek.

One of my favourite times as an adult is when I throw of my cares and worries and play a little.

Scream
Cry
Laugh
Sneeze
Snort
Wail
Express
Colour in

Play.

When was the last time you were playful?

When was the last time you dressed up?

When was the last time you took yourself a little less seriously?

Play

Embrace the moment you are in.

Shout out all aboard and jump in a cardboard box and imagine a boat with a three year old.

You will never be the same again.

Play a little!
