New

There is a scripture in the bible that says

‘his mercies are new every morning’

God sees a new day and gives us mercy just enough to contain the days worries.

A new day.

Today I walked out to the beach, I breathed in its perfection and I felt anew.

Nothing has changed, no decisions have been made but everything felt different.

My perspective had been refreshed in his mercy and I began the day again.

Even though Max felt like 3am was a great time to chat (and cry), even though Charl was on night shift and I was alone.

God met me.

He reassured me that it is a new day.

We cannot step into the new chapter if we keep re-reading the last one.

It’s a new day my friend.

A new day.

Embrace his mercy for it.

Lean into the fresh perspective friend.

Refresh

I am in a little phase where it seems some of the pages on my home screen are frozen.

A couple of big days with lots of emotions preparing myself for a new year.

Big decisions equal big emotions and fear often paralyzes our decisions and a big mainframe meltdown of our heart can occur.

Some pages of my life are frozen in the past, I keep going back to try and open them but a complete refresh is required.

For me that means overhaul of exercise, overhaul of food intake, overhaul of how much time online, overhaul of what I am reading and how I am processing.

Some days we all just need to refresh, reboot, take stock and start again.

Hit the refresh button on your life friend. Especially as we make our way to the new year. It’s a beautiful time to reflect and refresh.

Imagine if we all came into the new year ready for the new season it presents,

Write
Journal
Read
Counsel
Talk
Process
Stop
Think
Listen
Breathe
Let go
Find clarity in the midst of the frozen programming in your world.

Shut the system down, reboot and refresh.

Wanna do it with me?

Simple

I am the queen of complex.

I think deeply about many things and sometimes situations are just complex and no amount of thinking, worrying, praying, scheming, plotting, helping, changing is going to clarify the situation.

Sometimes life is complex and allowing ourselves to accept what we cannot change and what we are not given permission to is okay.

That’s where simple comes in.

Sometimes letting go means accepting that people and life can be strange.

Strange is not great it’s not bad it just is.

Help me find simple in the midst of crazy.

Simple is found when we follow this prayer I believe…

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Simple.

Not exactly

But it does bring about a sense of peace in the midst of times that are increasingly complex.

I long for simplicity.

Sometimes though it’s my choices and my responses to situations that bring this longing about.

Humility

#onewordchangeseverything

Some days being humbled is the very best thing God can do for you.

You know those crying, snot falling out of your face days where you realise that you are not as good as you think you are.

Those days when someone says something that doesn’t just hurt, but it stops you in your tracks and makes you change irrevocably.

Humility

Imagine if the world thought about themselves less and others more.

Humility

It changed the course of human history when God became man and took our brokenness upon him.

Humility

Is realised when we care more about others than we do about our own self preservation.

Humility

What if our world leaders lived more humble lives?

The ego creates so many wars in homes and across the planet.

What if more teachers thought more about their students hearts than their results and reputations?

Humility

What part of your ego really inhibits you from mercy?

Our world is so arrogant.

This one word could truly change destiny’s.

Slow

I honestly think technology has done us a disfavor.

We watch with baited breath for tragedy to unfold as storms like sandy taunt us.

We express ourselves online to someone, no one or everyone hoping for some interaction that results in someone liking my expression.

We tweet whilst hanging with our family, we Instagram private moments whilst running through the drive through hoping that our dinner would come just a little faster.

This year I have learnt that slow doesn’t mean boring.

That a walk instead of a run is not necessarily bad.

That ground hog day, with the simple things, like waiting for my yoghurt to firm, listening to music instead of television banter, watching my herbs grow intently is delightful.

Noticing the small birds that visit our fence daily, smiling at the poppies growing on my neighbors corner as I walk by, listening more intentionally as my family now starts to unload.

Slow

It’s used in a negative way in our speed obsessed society.

These days I am learning that a simpler, slower lifestyle does not equal unsuccessful.

Slow down dear friend.

This one word could change your life or maybe those who love you dearly!
