Be healthy be happy

Health:

Healthiness is often determined by our levels of happiness.

This month this picture is my screen saver on my phone because I am determined to change my approach to happiness and health.

Throughout my life I have had a love hate relationship with exercise and food.

As a dancer in my teens I battled many years of dark approaches to food, I battled severe self image issues and happiness and health would have never been in the same sentence.

I have lost twenty kilos and then put back on thirty, then lost twenty five then put on some more.

Health and happiness has never been about fitness and energy for me, it’s always come down to weight management and severe cycles of disappointment and regret.

Some days it completely makes me laugh that I married a personal trainer who has competed at the world championships in body building.

God has such a sense of humor.

I have been determined since the birth of my little son, to make my self image and perception be submitted to a healthy lifestyle of fitness and happiness.

I can look at this photo everyday now and not drive myself towards those abs, but focus in on her smile and her strength and know that is my goal.

I want to live fitter for my little son, I want to live healthier for my husband and I want both first and foremost for myself.

How is your relationship with your self image?

How is your relationship with your health and happiness?

If you haven’t joined us on this 30 day journey towards our September Spring Clean; heart.home.health its not too late, set some goals and be encouraged change is just one step away from permanency.

You just need to start the process.

Health & Happiness my 30 day journey.

Foundations

Home:

What is the foundation of your home built on?

Peace. Love. Trust. Forgiveness. Strife. Manipulation. Words. Negativity.

Our homes are built on all sort of foundations.

Some are strong, firm and reliable, others are shaky, ruptured and unsafe.

My husband and I were talking about this amazing statement written by Mother Teresa today…

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some
false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will
forget tomorrow,
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and
it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got … anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is
between you and God,
It never was between you and them anyway..

The thing is we cannot all be mother Teresa, there was only one of her, she lived her life and time the best she could.

There is only one of you. The foundation that you build your home on, has the capacity to affect absolutely millions, because of the people you affect in your home.

No one talks about Mother Teresa’s dad, but maybe he was the one who made the most amazing foundation in his home, to grow and develop his daughter to believe in helping others.

Therefore her dad impacted millions.

You never know who your nearest and dearest will impact.

All you have today is the potential to build a foundation of love, forgiveness and peace.

Or…

Happy fathers day everyone.

Distracted

Heart:

Today as I pounded the treadmill I listened to a podcast for a second time.

I wanted to listen to it, because so often I am distracted.

The lady who just walked in, the trainer who is chatting up another client, the television, oh how much have I done already, oh no I’m supposed to be listening to this podcast.

Start again.

Wow that’s a great point, oh what a beautiful day, how about later, what shall I have for lunch, KFC, ahh don’t think so…

Damn, I did it again.

Start again.

How often do I live distracted?

How often do you live distracted?

I would put money on the fact that most people live distracted…

Our kids are distracted, our homes are distracted, our schools are distracted.

Our hearts are distracted.

We are a distracted people.

It’s only by disciplined accountability that we zone into our worlds and find focus to be the change in the world.

Do you want to change your circumstance?

Change your distractions!

Commit

Somedays it’s only commitment that holds us accountable to the goals and dreams we aspire too.

Somedays everything seems against us yet a commitment to living larger helps us gain strength.

Somedays setting the goal can be the easy part it’s sticking to it when everything seems against you.

Somedays.

Then there are those days.

Those days when a new season
Beacons.

Those days when a drink falls out of a drink machine the first try.

Those days when the traffic just clears as you stream through the middle.

Those days when a car backs out of a perfect parking spot as you turn the corner.

Those days when your coffee is just right, your toast unburnt, your poached eggs soft, your wallet has cash enfolded in its silk.

Those days.

Those days when setting a goal, making a change, overcoming the world is your passion and motivation.

Then there is every other day. The normal, bland, in between type of day.

A new month begins tomorrow, a new day when you have the capacity to join us in the September Spring Challenge, it may be a someday, one of those days or every other day but I want to challenge you to make a commitment tomorrow and see something change.

Accountability is one of the best ways to follow through on a commitment.

Make a simple goal
Tell someone
And then make a difference in your world and those closest to you.

September Spring challenge is on the eve.

Be part of the answer.
