Day trippin

Place: home

Poison: Pepsi max

Favourite things: my friends

Petrol tank full- check

Food for baby- check

Nappies- check

Thermos flask- check

Great friends- check

Conversations unleashed, cruisy tunes playlisted, eyes on the road…a day trip began.

As we drove out of the city, towards a historic town today I felt the grime of the city fade and the wildflowers of the country unveil.

We only drove an hour out of the city but we felt miles away.

Antique shops adorned, bakery’s tempted, history beckoned.

The sun awakened our senses, the coffee slowly sipped over counsel, the old church we went off track to purvey.

A day trip is not that hard to arrange, sometimes all it takes is a day set and friends gathered but how often do we escape them?

Take your family, friends, self on a road trip sometime soon.

It will unlock something you never even knew existed inside.

It gives you the sense of satisfaction of a holiday, without the pile of washing.

York you refreshed me today.

Can’t wait to meet again soon.

Slippers on the beach

Place: the beach

Poison: flat white

Favourite things: sunsets in slippers

Watching the sunset with my slippers glittering, I realised just how beautiful our country truly is.

People would fly around the world to have a holiday at the beach, yet it’s literally on my doorstep and so often I take it for granted.

I take for granted being able to wear my slippers on the beach. I take for granted leaving the front door open as we run to catch the last glimpses of the pink erode the blue.

Holding our son tight, gripping each others hands, so aware of how fragile life truly is.

Where can you wear your slippers, that you take for granted?

A special backyard hideout, a friends house with comfort, a park, the beach…

We have so much beauty awaiting our discovery, the problem is we just miss it.

We forget it.

We overlook it.

We snicker at it.

We bemoan it.

We trivialize it.

I love wearing my slippers on the beach. Some might say its ridiculous, but I say it’s home.

Spring and Summer are at our doorstep, I can smell its potential in te air.

Capture life.

Place: home

Poison: toothpaste

Favourite things: my family

Today started off quite boringly predictable, an early start, a coffee or two and watching the early editions of the news.

Then one thing led to another, which led to another and suddenly everything changed.

Once again all too quickly I was reminded of the poignancy and potency of life, when I heard news of a friend loosing theirs.

A year ago, one of my close friends lost her husband and in the last letter he penned her it said this ‘Life is short, love what you do.’

Life is short.

Capture your now.

Love those who cross your today, even when they annoy the heck out of you.

Love what you do. If you don’t, then change it.

Life is short, love what you do.

Capture life, it’s fleeting.

Capture life, it does all it can to run away from us.

Capture life dear friend it is precious.

Encourage those you do life with, encourage those you don’t.

Be the type of stranger that people you met wish you were their friend.

Be the type of sister that makes your sibling want to be like you.

Be the type of spouse that makes it easy to brag on.

Be the type of friend that gives more than you get in return.

Because dear friend, life is fleeting.

What matters today, in the sight of eternity does not.

What worries you today, will not even cross your mind in the afterlife.

Capture life.

The adventure awaits.

It stops for no one.

Changed for good ‘Penny Webb’

Place: hairdressers

Poison: glass of water

Favourite things: the wicked soundtrack

As I drove today I switched on my cd player in the car to find the wicked soundtrack on track 18.

As I listened to the words it reminded me of a friend, a mentor, a sister, a leader who has made such a deep impact on my life so I thought today’s post would be an ode to ‘Penny’

I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you…

But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

These lyrics truly remind me of how she has impacted my life.

She is so passionate about others, she is so caring about her family, she is creative, kind and full of life.

She encourages, thinks about others and lives with such great character.

Penny, these lyrics are so true…because I knew you, I have been changed for good.

Don’t leave all your good words about your family and friends till they are no longer around, encourage those closest to you today.

All my love

Amanda

Does yours match your deep beliefs about your passions?

Ask your friends how they describe you. Ask them what sentence they use to categorize your life.

You might be pleasantly surprised or terribly disappointed.

You get to write your sentence.

It just takes intention and time.

You can change your sentence.

It just takes passion and focus.

What is your life sentence?

I’m not sure yet, about mine, but I’d love to find out how others describe me.
