Creativity for a cause

I am a part of a women’s network Kinwomen which is all about encouraging women to love and care for other women. Today we launched the ticket sales for our House Concert.

If you are from Perth and would like to be a part of the night tickets are on sale here: Click Here

This event is all about a group of women in Perth, Western Australia, helping a group of women in Rwanda to live a life that is breathtaking. It is the simple things, but creativity and innovation have the capacity to come around a cause and to make it wonderful.

I am still reeling from the art exhibition we did last week for Phil Baker as a huge part of his recovery journey. To see his art, the power of creativity, people actually buying his art and supporting his recovery journey was so inspiring.

We are also in the process of finishing off a short film that highlights Phil’s journey through art therapy from his accident, doctors finding a brain tumour, dying, to brain injury, blindness, to recovery and finding himself again through creativity.

Imagine if all the creative endeavours in our community were based in helping someone else. So much of our art and our creativity that I come accross particularly online nowadays is so selfish. It is so based in people promoting themselves, to make them feel better about themselves.

Imagine if creativity was encouraged to be founded in a cause. That we came together with our creative posse to make a difference in anothers life.

Imagine what our world could or would look like.

This morning as I pondered this on the treadmill, a short film came onto the ABC and it brought together everything I was pondering so well.

Broaden your horizons

lebanonEvery time I travel, I feel like my brain, imagination and heart are enlarged.

I know it is an extreme privilege that I get to travel, one that is not afforded to many many people in the world.

Yet I often meet people who have to capacity to travel to distant lands, yet do not.

Sometimes it’s fear, others it’s comfort, for some it’s laziness and others they just plain need to let go of their need to control.

Exploration is not a means tested reality anymore. With the internet and its amazing capacity to show us every part of our continent we can travel also from our own lounge room. The key to partaking is a willingness to be curious.

A few years ago now I travelled to Lebanon. I stayed in a small village on the border of Israel and Syria and it was one of the most awakening experiences of my life. It is a part of the world that not many people have the privilege to travel to and the family I stayed with are so special.

This morning whilst wandering through social media one of my good friends posted this and memories started flowing.

Every new experience that we encounter, creates memories and opportunities for our imagination to draw upon at a later date. Our minds are like massive visual libraries, full of rows and rows of memories, experiences, encounters and feelings.

Allowing ourselves to be ever curious is one of the greatest tools of an innovative soul.

Are you curious?

Do you explore?

Do you jump at the opportunity for a new adventure?

If not, the unlimited potential of your imagination has less to draw from.

Have a great day

Capture Craft

photo

http://amandaviviers.com/product/coffee-bean-bags/

After many conversations and trepidations I am experimenting a little with my shop.

For those that know me, I am a craftaholic and only do my craft for friends, presents and therapy.

I am having a little experimental go at crafting for other lovers of creative gifts out there.

So check out my latest coffee bean bag in my shop and order one if you like it.

Capture crafts is in an experimental stage and will always give away part profits to those in need.

Join the journey and watch this space for more capture crafts coming available to purchase in my shop soon.

Ps- I am also working on a downloadable version of capture one, for your ipad, e reader etc. Very exciting.

Thus the quietness on the blog front. I have been a busy beaver.

All my love

Bethany’s story #thecaptureproject

bethany

Meet my friend Beth. She would say we met in a toilet one time, but I noticed her even before we met there. We were at an event, she walked across the foyer and I smiled knowing that we would both change each others lives.

And that we have.

She is one of the most amazing writers I have ever read and I cannot wait to read the next part of her story.

To get her story into a few minutes has not been easy, but this is just the beginning.

Beth, I think you are absolutely stunning. I feel that it is a privilege that you have shared your story with me over many coffees and long walks.

Now others have the benefit of listening to your courage and reading them on your blog

Stay tuned.

This young thing is going to change the world!

All my love

#thecaptureproject

We had an idea.

My husband, a very new friend and I.

It’s simple.

But also a little complicated.

It might work.

It might not.

But were having a go anyway.

Watch this video to find out more.

Why don’t you get involved. Hold up your Iphone/Skype Cam/Andriod something and lets have a go together. Tell us your story. Not where you were born and such. Just tell us what inspires you, tell us something that happened, tell us a secret dream or ambition.
